SHAC
SHAC (School Health Advisory Committee) is a school district created advisory group. The duties of the SHAC range from recommending curriculum to developing strategies for integrating curriculum into a coordinated school health program encompassing health services, counseling services, and a safe and healthy school environment. Additional information regarding the district’s School Health Advisory Council is available from the elementary nurse. [See also Board Policies Online: BDF and EHAA.]
Members of the SHAC come from different areas of the community and school district. Texas law (Texas Education Code, Title2, Chapter 28, §28.004) requires the establishment of a SHAC for every school district. The job of the SHAC is to make sure that the school district’s school programs reflect local community values.
